SketchBook Reflection

This year within Design Visualization has brought out a lot within me as far as it comes to drawing/sketching. I've never drew this much before and I've have created some very interesting pieces of artwork if I do say so myself. As they say "Practice makes perfect" and the more I continued to draw, the better I became at it. This has  been a great class to get my back on my drawing swing and I shall continue to develop and master this craft. 

This is one of the most successful drawing within my sketchbook.  Its very simplistic within the shading but you can clearly see the various values that are used to make up this drawing. 

This is a still life drawing of a fellow classmate. We did this as an exercise in order to tune our skill of capturing an item with speed and accuracy. I used contour lines to get the basis of the body down. I enjoy this drawing because its a very completed picture and you can clearly depict whats going on within it.

This is an illustration of a person that was sitting in front of me in class. I enjoy my use of shading and the various values that I incorporated in order to bring this still life drawing from being something basic to detailed. They kept moving around so everything is not completely proportional, but it's still a very successful portrait to me. 

My so called "self-portrait" but the thing is, it doesn't even really look like me. Took about 30 minutes to complete this drawing in which I sat in a high chair in front of my mirror at home. Even though it doesn't look like my splitting image, you can still see my face with this one. Its kind of a mystery face with the answer still in your face. Bottom line is, I like it.

This Drawing entry is by Randi Tollner. The reason why I choose this one is because I enjoy her
 use of different vales and how they contrast against the brick wall.  I also like how she didn't
 put every detail of brick veneer in but she put just enough to represent the wall as being brick. 

Sarah Harris was the artist behind this drawing. My reasoning behind choosing this one is because I like
her strong use of contrast within the handle in order to grab the sense of light hitting it. 

Still Figure Drawings

This is a Gesture drawing of one of my fellow classmates. I choose to upload this image because its one of my
more completed drawings. I used a little more contour lines than in a regular gesture drawing because I simply
wanted to get the basics of her frame down first but I still enjoy the turnout  with the time 5 min time frame we were given.  

This a simple contour drawing of a group of my classmates.  I  uploaded this because I generally got most
of the bodies down on the paper and you can actually tell what kind of pose they are in. 

Orthographic Drawings

This is an isometric orthographic drawing for one of the assignments
we had in class. It was from two different objects that has both been
projected from their original pictorial views unto this drawing. 

This my orthographic drawing of my Phillies cap. This drawing also
stemmed from the original pictorial views that I drew for a previous
assignment.

What inspires me

I'm a simple individual when it comes to everyday life so my inspiration comes from the simple forms and voids that you can find in everyday life. This is what I love to see and bring out the life within in these simple items. Nature also inspires me because I enjoy looking at how everything flows so freely and is inhibited from being constricted by our man-made ways. In conclusion, simplicity is life and nature is freedom.
